Hill Kulu & Team Awarded ESRC Grant

News: New Appointments to the ESCR Council

Population Europe congratulates Professor Hill Kulu and his team of researchers at the University of St Andrews and the University of Southampton. The team was recently awarded a £708,000 Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) grant to investigate recent dramatic changes in fertility levels in the United Kingdom, their causes, and likely future trends. They plan to develop improved methodolgies for future fertility forecasting. Kulu, a professor at the Population and Health Research Group of the School of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews, stated: 'Recent fertility fluctuations have significant short- and long-term implications for planning and policy making, at both national and local levels.'
