This week, the European Research Council announced the Principal Investigators for their ERC Starting Grants 2022. With a total of €636m in funding, the ERC aims to support emerging scientific talent across Europe. The laureates of this grant competition proposed to carry out their projects at universities and research centres in 26 countries across Europe, mostly in Germany (81 projects), UK (70), Netherlands (40) and France (39).
We are excited to see members of the Population Europe Network in the list of principal investigators. This includes Heini Vaisanen (Ined) on her project 'Social Inequalities in the Risk and Aftermath of Miscarriage'. From Bocconi University, Nicoletta Balbo receives the ERC Starting Grant for her 'Child Disability and Family Life' project. Lastly, 2017 Allianz European Demographer Award Winner, Felix Tropf received funding for the project 'Finding the ‘missing environmentality’.
