Zsuzsanna Makay is the new director of the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute

As of February 1st, Zsuzsanna Makay became the new Director of the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute (HDRI). Zsuzsanna is a demographer, studied in Budapest and Paris, and wrote her dissertation between 2006 and 2010 at the French national demographic institute (INED). She earned her PhD in 2012 and has worked since 2010 at the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute. Her research focuses on fertility, family policy, work-life balance, and reproductive health.

She takes over from Zsolt Spéder, who continues to work at the institute as a researcher after serving the HDRI as director from 1999 to 2022.
