News: New Partner Institute: Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR) at Umeå University

Population Europe welcomes the Centre for Demographic and Ageing Research (CEDAR), a unit at Umeå University, as the 34th partner in the Network of Europe's leading demographic research centres.

CEDAR is a multidisciplinary centre where researchers from different faculties and disciplines study demographic changes from a young to an ageing society in a variety of projects.

An important point of departure are the longitudinal databases available and developed at CEDAR (including POPUM, POPLINK, the Linnaeus Database and SHARE), as well as information from databases developed at other units at Umeå University (such as Betula and the Västerbotten Intervention Programme, VIP).

Central themes for research at CEDAR are:

  • Cognitive and physical ageing.
  • Participation of older people.
  • Living conditions in majority and minority groups during different phases. of the demographic transition.
  • Determinants of population trends.

We look forward to working with our colleagues at CEDAR and welcome them to the Population Europe Network!
