Family caregivers are the backbone of the care system in Germany. Often still of working age, they are faced with the question of how they can reconcile the care needs of their loved ones and with their employment. In view of our ageing society and the growing need for care, this predicament is becoming increasingly common. How will the need for care and the potential for care change in the future? What consequences will care responsibilities have for people's working lives, and why are existing measures to improve the compatibility of care and employment rarely taken up? Starting from in their research findings, the speakers will initiate a discussion on how policy can improve the conditions to support working family carers.
This event series is connected with the Einstein Center Population Diversity in Berlin. The Center will bring together top-level researchers working on this topic in a joint institution, and contribute to the international visibility of Germany as a research area. The Förderfonds Wissenschaft in Berlin supports this initiative.
