► Elmar Stracke, producer of the podcast "Alter, was geht?" on the history and present of age and ageing (moderator)
Every year on February 4, we celebrate the European Day of Demography and the first known demographic study, "Natural and Political Observations ... Made Upon the Bills of Mortality", published in 1662. With this ground-breaking report, John Graunt, a London textile merchant and member of the Royal Society, became a pioneer of demography and epidemiology. This year, please join us for a panel discussion on how population studies were developed over 350 years ago. The panelists will discuss demographic topics of particular interest to society now and in the coming years, including the ageing of our societies and the shortage of skilled workers. The future place of youth in society and the issue of intergenerational fairness will also be a theme. Join us for the discussion!
You can find Elmar Stracke's recently published podcast with Andreas Edel on John Graunt (in German) on various portals.
