MapIneq – Mapping Inequalities through the life course – was a 3-year research project (2022 – 2025) funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme.

The project studied trends and drivers of intergenerational, educational, labour market and health inequalities over the life course during the last decades, and distinguished local, regional, national and supranational levels.

Its main results are summarised at the White Paper on Social Inequalities in Europe: From Early Childhood to Retirement.

MapIneq was led by Professor Jani Erola (University of Turku) and brought together prominent researchers in inequalities of opportunities and outcomes in Europe. The consortium was formed by eight partners: University of Turku (coordinator), University of Groningen, National Distance Education UniversityWZB Berlin Social Science CenterStockholm UniversityTallinn UniversityPopulation Europe, and University of Oxford.
