Almost six million Ukrainians, mostly women, children and older people have fled to European host countries. Neighbouring countries like Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, but also Western European countries, most notably Germany and Austria, have accepted thousands of refugees. Two large surveys conducted simultaneously between April and June in Kraków (Poland) and Vienna (Austria) collected information on socio-economic backgrounds, return intentions and attitudes.
