Population Europe is delighted to report that the project "Quantifying Migration Scenarios for Better Policy" (QuantMig) has been selected as a Success Story by the European Commission's Research & Innovation services.

"QuantMig" was a collaborative research project which ran from 2020 to 2023 on a grant from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation framework. It was led by Prof. Jakub Bijak of the University of Southampton. Population Europe acted as a project partner, ensuring outreach and policy impact (coordinator: Dr. Daniela Vono de Vilhena).

"Success story" projects are selected by the European Commission to showcase how academic work can best impact policy and society.

According to the European Commission, "the project’s work resonated beyond academia, influencing discussions within key European agencies such as the EU Agency for Asylum and Frontex. Its insights on migration uncertainty and preparedness have been widely acknowledged, contributing to a shift in how migration forecasting is approached."

All about QuantMig's impact (website of the European Commission).

Many thanks to all our partners who made the project a success!
