Population Europe sadly announces the passing of one of its founding members Professor Dr Anatoly G. Vishnevsky (1 April 1935 – 15 January 2021), Professor emeritus and Director of the Institute of Demography at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow. He was one of the most eminent Russian demographers and was held in high esteem by his students and colleagues. He was a partner in many European research collaborations and a devoted contributor to the public understanding of demography. The partners of Population Europe and the community of European Demographers will miss him as a colleague, advisor and friend and will honour his memory.
