Millennium Cohort Study Age 22 Sweep: Consultative Workshop

This interactive half-day event is an opportunity to help shape the content of the Millennium Cohort Study Age 22 Sweep (Principal Investigator Prof. Emla Fitzsimons).

Workshop details

This interactive half-day event is an opportunity to help shape the content of the Millennium Cohort Study Age 22 Sweep (Principal Investigator Prof. Emla Fitzsimons).

The aim of the Age 22 Sweep is to provide data for research and policy on the lives of this generation at an important milestone, on the cusp of maturation to adulthood, adding to the wealth of data already collected from the cohort during their formative years.

We ran an online consultation during February and March 2021 to help determine the content of the eighth MCS survey. This next phase will build on the input we received in response to the consultation, and will focus on key topics, questions and instruments to include in the sweep.

Scientific themes

  • Education, learning and investment in skills, and employment transitions, economic circumstances, the nature of work
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Physical health and health behaviours
  • Relationships, family and intra-household dynamics
  • Cognitive skills and processes
  • Identity and attitudes
  • Other areas not covered above

Event format

Participants can attend up to four themed sessions matching their research interests, each of which will be led by a theme discussant. Each 40 minute session will start with a brief overview followed by an open and collaborative discussion. Session times will be allocated based on audience demand.

All stakeholders welcome but please note we are planning to run a further consultation event, tailored specifically for policymakers and representatives of the third sector in June/July 2021.
