Two Research Fellow positions at Connecting Generations

The ESRC Connecting Generations programme is delighted to welcome applications for two research fellow posts to examine trends in employment and caring responsibilities, and intergenerational flows of support in later life and increasing costs of living.

ESRC Connecting Generations is a collaborative project between the long-established Centre for Population Change (University of Southampton, University of St Andrews, and University of Stirling), the University of Oxford Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science, and the Resolution Foundation.  ESRC Connecting Generations aims to innovate in knowledge and understanding of intergenerational relations and population change. The Centre is led by Professor Jane Falkingham. For further details, see  https://www.cpc.ac.uk/

This project will examine (i) trends in employment and caring responsibilities, and (ii) the impact of the cost of living on individuals and families, and the role of intergenerational support in this context. A variety of data sources including individual level data from Understanding Society, English Longitudinal Study of Ageing, the 1970 and 1958 Birth Cohort Studies, ONS Longitudinal Study and the Wealth & Assets Survey will be used.

These research positions will be based in the Department of Gerontology and Centre for Research on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences, where Professors Evandrou and Vlachantoni are based. You will be part of a supportive group including other project Researchers, the CPC Research Manager and Knowledge Exchange team, and other Faculty members, within the Department of Gerontology at the University of Southampton, as well as other Departments and partner institutions.

One research fellow post is full-time fixed term for 24 months and the other research fellow post is full-time fixed term for 12 months.

Apply by 11:59 pm GMT on Wednesday 19 June 2024.
