Call for Papers: International Conference on Family and Fertility

Virtual conference, 3-5 December 2020
Deadline:
31/10/2020

The seminar is organized by the IUSSP Panel on Family Behaviour in East Asia and Southern Europe, in collaboration with the Center for Social Research, Peking University.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 31 October 2020.

This conference will explore the causes and consequences of low fertility and associated family change. Research on how fertility and family change are related to gender, family ties, and economic uncertainty is particularly encouraged. The organizing panel focuses on low fertility and family change in East Asia and Southern Europe, but the geographic focus of this conference is broad and we encourage the submission of papers on low fertility around the world.

Online submissions:

We invite researchers to submit online, by 31 October 2020, a short 200-word abstract AND upload an extended abstract (2 to 4 pages, including tables) or a full paper which must be unpublished. Applicants will be informed whether their paper is accepted by 15 November 2020.

To submit and fill out the online submission form, please click here: ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM.

  • Abstracts and papers must be written in English.
  • Submission should be made by the author who will present at the virtual conference. If the paper is co-authored, please include the names of your co-authors in your submission form (in the appropriate order).
  • In addition to dissemination through posting on the member-restricted portion of the IUSSP website, conference organizers will explore possibilities for publishing the papers as an edited volume or a special issue of a journal. Papers submitted should be unpublished and, as for a journal or an edited book, authors, by submitting a paper, agree they will not propose it for publication to another editor until the committee makes a decision with regard to their possible publication.
