As the global population reaches eight billion, we bring together population experts to explore questions from the major demographic changes in the last decades to future dynamics as they relate to ageing and fertility.

Professor Annette Baudisch joins WIC to to communicate new directions of research at the Danish Center for Population Research in Odense and present recent results on mortality patterns and the rate of ageing in humans, primates, and other species to discuss if and how existing theories and modeling within evolutionary demography, optimization approaches across disciplines and other approaches may help explain emerging regularities and apparent constraints on the rate of ageing.
